Decorative Concrete
in Gisborne
Decorative concrete is the same structural job with a finish worth looking at. Exposed aggregate, oxide colour, patterned trowel work and large-format paving all change how a driveway, patio or pool deck reads from the street — without adding a surface that peels or fades. Everything below was photographed on our own Gisborne jobs. Ask about a decorative finish.

Colour through the mix
Oxide is batched into the concrete, not painted on top, so the colour cannot chip or wear off the surface.
Texture that works
Exposed stone and trowel textures add grip where surfaces get wet — the decorative choice is usually the safer one too.
Reads as an upgrade
A decorative driveway or patio is one of the few exterior changes visible from the street the day it is finished.
Same structure underneath
Base, reinforcing and joints are built the same way as any other pour. The finish is the difference, not the engineering.
Decorative work
Every photo below is a real Eastcrete job in the Gisborne district
Swirl trowel finish
Worked texture that catches light across a large surface.

Exposed aggregate
Stone washed back for texture, grip and street appeal.

Charcoal oxide
Dark colour through the mix, detailed at the coping line.

Exposed aggregate, grey
A lighter stone blend on a full driveway renovation.

Large-format paving
Laid over prepared base for a rural pool and patio.

Coloured pool deck
Low-glare colour chosen for a deck that gets bare feet.
How a decorative pour runs
Decorative finishes are decided before the truck is booked — colour, stone and texture all change the mix and the finishing window.
Straight answers
Does coloured concrete fade?
Oxide colour is mixed through the concrete rather than applied on the surface, so it will not chip or peel. Any exterior surface weathers and lightens slightly over years, and sealing slows that down.
Is exposed aggregate slippery?
It is one of the better finishes for grip, because the exposed stone gives texture underfoot. That is why it is common on driveways, paths and pool decks.
Can you match an existing decorative surface?
We can get close, but concrete poured years apart will never be an exact match — different batch, different weather, different age. We will be straight with you about how close it will get before you commit.
Does a decorative finish need sealing?
Exposed and coloured surfaces hold their appearance better sealed, and resealing every few years keeps them looking new. We tell you what your finish needs at handover.
