Pool Surrounds
in Gisborne

A pool surround has to be comfortable underfoot, safe when wet and tidy where it meets the coping — all while draining away from the water. We prepare and pour surrounds for new and existing pools across Gisborne and Tairāwhiti, working around pool shape, access and the landscaping that comes afterwards. Talk to us about your pool area.

/// What a pool surround has to get right
01

Safe underfoot when wet

Texture is chosen for barefoot grip, not just looks — an exposed or lightly broomed surface stays usable when the deck is soaked.

02

Falls away from the pool

Levels are set so rain and splash-out run away from the water and off the deck, instead of pooling at the coping line.

03

Cool, low-glare colour

Charcoal and earth oxides keep the deck from glaring in summer sun and hide the marks a pool deck inevitably collects.

04

A clean edge at the coping

The join between concrete and coping is the detail people actually look at. It gets set out properly rather than cut in at the end.

/// Pool surround FAQs

Straight answers

Can you do a surround for an existing pool?

Yes — renovations are a good part of this work. We assess the existing coping, levels and drainage first, because an old surround usually failed for a reason worth fixing.

What finish is safest around a pool?

Anything with texture. Exposed aggregate and light broom finishes both give barefoot grip when wet, where a hard-trowelled surface can be slippery. We will talk you through the options with samples on site.

Does the concrete need to fall away from the pool?

Yes. Splash-out and rain need somewhere to go that is not back into the pool, so the falls are set out before anything is poured.

Do you work in with the pool installer?

We do. Surrounds usually sit between the pool install and the fencing or landscaping, so the sequencing gets agreed up front.

Can you match a coloured surround to the house?

Within the oxide range, yes. We bring samples to the site visit so you can see the colour against the house and the coping before committing.
